WATER QUALITY MONITORING

In regions like Trivandrum, the presence of oceans and backwaters has led to widespread water contamination. This alarming situation poses severe health risks, including the spread of diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, and more. As per the report published by Mathrubhumi in April, 2023, more than 80 per cent of the open wells for which the majority of people depend for drinking water, and more than 90 per cent of rivers are contaminated with Escherichia coli (E. Coli) Bacteria. Shockingly, there are individuals who directly consume this water, exposing themselves to grave health hazards The question we, as tech students, must grapple with is: What can we do about it?

Challenge:

Water quality in many areas of Trivandrum and several districts in Kerala is exceedingly poor. Drinking this water without proper boiling or filtration significantly increases the risk of health problems.

We Propose:

We propose the development of a Water Quality Monitor Application that uses image processing and AI technology to assess water quality through captured images. This application will serve both the public and government authorities by providing rapid analyses of water quality. It will enable us to predict water contamination levels and determine if the water is safe for consumption.

Our Roadmap:
